- The following content will guide you how to set up to automatically delete compressed RAR, ZIP files after decompression.
+ Step 1: You have installed WinRAR software on your computer, any version is fine, but it is recommended that you use the latest version of WinRAR to avoid security holes.
There are many ways for you to open an archive with WinRAR, such as double-click on the archive, or another way is to right-click on the file and select Extract files… or Open with WinRAR.
+ Step 2: Next, in this window of WinRAR, click Extract To to open the extraction options window of WinRAR.
If you open WinRAR by choosing Extract Files… then you don't need to do this step anymore because it opens for you.
+ Step 3: Switch to the Advanced tab in the Extraction path and options window, look down you can easily see the Delete Archive - Delete archive file with 3 options including:
* Never (selected by default): Do not delete, ie still keep the archive after decompressing is complete.
* Ask for confirmation: You will be asked if you want to delete it after extracting it (Recommended to use).
* Always: After extracting, delete it without asking too much.
- With the Ask for confirmation option, you will get a message like this every time the decompression is complete. If you want to delete it, then click Yes and vice versa click No.
Note: If the setting is wrong, you can lose the archive. After selecting, click OK to agree and start extracting the open file.
